Lipoedema Treatment

Lipoedema is a chronic condition characterised by disproportionate fat accumulation, typically in the legs and arms. This fat may be resistant to weight loss, and people with lipoedema will often note difficulty losing weight in those areas. Other features of lipoedema may include (but not limited to):

• Onset around the time of hormonal change e.g. puberty, pregnancy, menopause
• Pain/tenderness to touch
• Bruising easily
• Joint hypermobility
• The feeling of heaviness, aching in the limbs
• Nodules that can be palpated under the skin
• Often a family history (other women in the family with a similar shape)
• Cuffing at the ankles or wrists with the feet and hands mostly unaffected
